Hello Internet!

In today's internet, it is easy for a girl to get lost down the rabbit hole of Pinterest beauty and fashion boards. For a lot of girls and women browsing the various boards is a pleasurable past time to find new beauty routines, outfit ideas for a special weekend, or find instructions on how to do that fancy top knot their friend was wearing at brunch. Then there are girls and women that like me. The type of person that don't know how to apply eye liner, let alone make it 'winged'. The type person who thinks an 'up-do' is a messy bun on top of their head. The type of person that goes onto Pinterest beauty and thinks "I can totally do this!" only to have it explode in their face.

I am that girl. The no fuss, oh my goodness what the hell is contouring, girl. All I what is realistic beauty tip and hair tricks so this tomboy can 'grow up' and look like a real adult. I am 22 years old about to turn 23. I graduated in December from West Virginia University so I'm in the middle of hunting for my first job. Unless I can find a place to work where I can wear yoga pants and have my hair in a pony tail, I'm going to have to learn how be 'Girly'. I'm going to have to have cute and professional outfits. My hair and nails are going to have to look neat all the time. I'm going to have to transform.

Now I am not saying that I never cared about my appearance before this point, I did. I just never felt the need to style my hair everyday or put on more than just a little mascara before running off to class. As for my wardrobe, well I was never super fashionable. I wore what every college girl wears, Yoga pants, jeggings, and sweats. Most days I wore a fitted tee, others I wore a flannel button up or a rugby shirt. It was cute for college, but it isn't going to cut it in "the real world".


So there it is. Right now I'm a tomboy, but in order to be successful in my job hunt I'll have to become a girly tomboy. If I'm going to go through the ups and downs of figuring out how to dress and look like a real adult, I might as well share my experiences with the internet. I hope to share my struggles so that other new post- grads don't make the same mistakes I do, and maybe even share some tips and tricks I find helpful.
